BRITISH FARMING IS BEING DESTROYED BY THE COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY (CAP)
UK farming income is in sharp decline and many farmers are facing ruin and yet the cost of the Common Agricultural Policy has risen relentlessly. The contribution by Britain to the CAP has risen from 1 billion pounds in 1980 to 2 billion pounds by 1990 and an incredible 4.3 billion pounds in 1996. EU enlargement to include Eastern Europe threatens to raise it to more than 6 billion pounds and that is just what Britain pays! Total EU spending on the CAP is already over 30 billion pounds per annum.
DID YOU KNOW?:
Since 1984, British ministers have consistently failed to defend the British farmer. They allowed the milk quota system to be introduced, which prevents British dairy farmers from producing enough milk to meet our national needs. We are compelled to import 15 per cent from the EU countries. They have stood by while the European Commission banned exports of British beef, all but destroying cattle farming in this country and costing the taxpayer billions of pounds for destroying perfectly healthy animals.
The US Secretary of Agriculture said: In the case of the EU, legitimate food safety concerns are being manipulated for political purposes.
THE BEST WAY TO GET OUT OF THE CAP IS TO LEAVE THE EU AND GO BACK TO MANAGING BRITISH AGRICULTURE OURSELVES
WE NEED TO END THIS MADNESS NOW
Britain needs a take back control of agriculture now. We need a national agricultural policy tailored to the needs of British consumers and farmers. The vast savings we would make by not having to pay into the hugely wasteful and corrupt CAP would give us plenty of money to spend on revitalising farming in Britain (approximately 5 billion pounds per annum).
Remember, it is you, the consumer, who is paying for the CAP every time you go to the supermarket and pay inflated prices for your weekly groceries. Getting out of the CAP could effectively give you an extra trip to the supermarket every month, absolutely free!
