Renunciation of European Citizenship

GUIDANCE NOTES

The Renunciation of European Citizenship document is designed for two purposes. Firstly to give United Kingdom voters an opportunity to renounce the European Citizenship which has been imposed upon them without their consent and secondly to advise Her Majesty The Queen and Her Ministers of their decision.

It is designed as a continuous campaign so that the signed documents just keep trickling in to Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. It is planned that by adopting this method the actions of UK voters are kept constantly in mind. It is necessary to have two documents signed (One for The Queen and one for the Prime Minister).

Voters can be encouraged to sign this document at street stalls, meetings, through the post, door knocking or when you just meet someone, by always having copies on hand. The following procedure is suggested to ensure effective results:

  1. Once a voter has signed the renunciation documents (two) give them a blank copy for their records. You can also encourage them to get others to sign and if necessary give them some spare copies or tell them that more copies are available at the address on the bottom of the form. If they agree to help get signatures then give them a copy of these guidance notes. It is suggested that you obtain their contact details so that you can keep in touch. They may also welcome being invited to become a member of The Anti-Common Market League; if so, please advise us so that we can write to them.
  2. Offer to post the documents to both Her Majesty The Queen and also the Prime Minister. For this purpose have ready some envelopes addressed appropriately as indicated at point 4.
  3. Ask the person who has signed the document if they would care to contribute to the cost of the stamps (two at 23p as from Monday 3rd April, 2006) plus two envelopes. Say a total of 50p. Make sure you always have some change with you! You may also care to say that any contribution beyond costs would help the campaign.
  4. The two envelopes should be addressed as follows:
    1. To The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty,
      Buckingham Palace,
      LONDON,
      SW1A 1AA
    2. The Rt. Hon Tony Blair MP,
      Prime Minister,
      10 Downing Street,
      LONDON,
      SW1A 2AA

  5. Please send any donations obtained, made payable to The Anti-Common Market League, to The ACML at the address below.
  6. Extra copies of these Guidance Notes and the Renunciation document may be obtained from the ACML at the address below. Any contribution towards costs would be appreciated. Alternatively please feel free to make your own good quality photocopies.
  7. Don’t forget to send off the two signed documents from yourself!
